Trinity CME Gets New Pastor

By Amanda Smith

Trinity CME Church welcomes their new pastor, Reverend Rutha M. Jackson. Rev. Jackson, a native of Warner Robins, Ga., has been married to Clarence Jackson for almost thirty-five years.  They have three children, Nikesha, Michelle, and Kimbria Jackson, who resides in Atlanta, Ga.

Rev. Jackson earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Middle Grades Education from Fort Valley State and at present, teaches sixth-grade classes at Warner Robins Middle School.  She was nominated for and listed in Who’s Who Among Outstanding American Teachers in 2004 and 2005 and will be featured in Who’s Who Among Women for the year 2006-2007.

A member of the United States Air Force Reserve for 26 years, Rev. Jackson is an in-residency graduate of the Senior Non-Commissioned Officer Leadership School in Maxwell, Alabama.  She now holds the rank of Senior Master Sergeant and is serving with the 78th Mission Support Squadron, Personnel Group Readiness Section, Robins Air force Base, Warner Robins, Georgia.

In addition to graduating from Phillips School of Theology in Atlanta, Ga. with a Masters of Divinity in May of this year, Rev. Jackson is historically known throughout the CME Church for rebuilding Oak Grove Memorial Church on Elko Road in Perry, Ga., the only church destroyed by arson in Georgia in 1997, as well as being the only Georgia case that was tried in the Federal Court System in that year.

Rev. Jackson’s intentions are to make the city of Macon “a more viable, disciplined, and efficient area for all those who seek aid in any way.”  To do so, she plans to tap other resources throughout the city and state.  Her vision for Trinity CME is to teach the Bible to all ages, to reach out to the unfortunate, feed the hungry, and stretch out across racial lines.  “This is what Jesus would do for His people,” she says.

Rev. Jackson’s favorite Bible passage is Isaiah 61:1 – “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me.”  She is motivated and determined to do greater works for God.  In addition, she is a trailblazer and her strides in ministry have been phenomenal.  She considers her motto to be “dedication, commitment, and perseverance.”

Rev. Jackson would like to invite one and all to worship with her and her congregation at the following location and times.
